The Three Drinkers visit The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. for Amazon Prime TV
The Three Drinkers are back, and this time they’re in Ireland, travelling the length and breadth of the Emerald Isle in search of the finest distilleries and drinks the island has to offer.
I was unbelievably proud to host The Three Drinkers at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. on their recent tour of Ireland. If you missed their first series, The Three Drinkers are drinks experts, writers and broadcasters Helena Nicklin and Aidy Smith. Joined by a different ‘third drinker’ in the six episodes, their Amazon Prime show is a fantastic combination of travelogue and gastronomic exploration, all delivered in a lighthearted, upbeat way.
While their first series focused on Scotch whisky, their time in Ireland is more varied - it is a country with a lot to offer! It sees them visiting distilleries, cider orchards and country pubs to learn about everything from gin, vodka and poitin to beer, Irish cream and even Irish wine. And of course, Irish whiskey.
They arrived at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. with the keys to The Devil’s Keep, and spent time with us pouring over the finer details of our experiential whiskeys and admiring the attention to detail that epitomises our whiskeys and their surrounds. They were lucky enough to taste the whiskey, and to discover how we’ve reimagined the experience with the expertly designed pipette, obsidian whiskey stones and Irish spring water.
You’ll also see me set the Three Drinkers a challenge. I sent them a bottle of our latest, yet to be revealed, release, and tasked them with creating a luxury Irish whiskey cocktail. While some would argue that mixing a whiskey of such complexity, depth and viscosity into a cocktail is a crime, Aidy argues that it’s all about finding the perfect balance to let the whiskey shine through. You’ll have to tune in when it airs in 2022 to find out how he achieves that!
With a focus on diversity and better inclusivity within the drinks industry, the series showcases a more inclusive world and I was proud that The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. was chosen to be a part of it.
